Wharton Undergraduate Energy Group
An interdisciplinary look at the professional world of energy.
WUEG's mission is to stimulate learning and discussion about the energy industry among Penn undergraduates and facilitate recruitment in the field. In accordance with our mission, WUEG provides a forum for undergraduates to explore energy at the intersection of business, technology, and policy.
Our Committees
Academics
The Academics committee explores all facettes of energy through a multi-medial approach. Members of Academics delve into the depths of cutting-edge topics within the everchanging energy industry by developing article-writing, interviewing and presentation skills.
Consulting
The Consulting committee is a fast-growing branch of the WUEG, providing traditional management-consulting experience within the greater context of the energy realm. Consulting focuses on providing all members with an educational baseline on consulting and effective problem-solving, while affording them hands-on, client-based experience applicable in future professional endeavors.
Events
The Events committee spearheads event planning to provide unique opportunities for students to see the energy industry in action, involving anything from industry outreach and speaker coordination to tackling larger projects like site visits. Past events include trips to Marcellus Shale, AES sites, Vicinity Energy, and a variety of speaker events.
Corporate Relations
The Corporate Relations committee is the primary liaison to corporate sponsors and partners. Members of Corporate Relations work to secure corporate sponsorship and external funding for WUEG, coordinate recruiting events, and help members navigate potential career opportunities in the energy field.
Finance
The Finance committee handles all logistics with regard to club funds and supports development of case competitions and finance workshops. Responsibilities range from devising the club's budget and fund allocation, to serving as a liaison to the Wharton Council and other supporting organizations.
Marketing
The Marketing committee is responsible for overseeing committee and board recruitment and developing outreach material for WUEG events. Marketing provides the opportunity for members to design content, develop and maintain social media presence, and managing WUEG’s newsletters and communications.
