Committees
Events
The Events Committee is how WUEG brings the energy industry to campus while providing real world engagement for all members. We plan treks to firms in NYC and DC, host fireside chats with professionals, and team up with Finance and Consulting on energy pitch and case comps. We also land and manage corporate sponsorships, making sure our members have a voice in every energy conversation at Penn.
Careers
The Careers Committee is designed to maintain relationships with alumni and others within the energy space, while also presenting interesting career opportunities for WUEG members. Committee members also will bolster the Linkedin group and the mentorship program with MBAs and other students that are interested in similar career opportunities.
Marketing
The Marketing Committee runs WUEG's social media, turning energy into something that captures people's’ attention. New members design posts that make complex topics within the energy field feel accessible and shareable. It's a hands-on way to learn graphic design and messaging while creating passion and visibility for issues that matter.
Consulting
The consulting committee works with 2-3 clients per semester spanning startups, utility providers, and investment firms. Through team projects, members will work directly with clients and provide recommendations. At the end of the projects, we’ll take a trip to our clients offices for a final presentation!
Finance
The Finance Committee connects classroom finance and the real-world economics of the energy industry. We tackle basic project finance, valuation, and deal analysis, partnering with industry professionals.
Policy
The Policy Committee explores how energy policy is actually made, debated, and implemented. This year, instead of writing individual articles, we’ll work as one team on a semester-long policy research project, with the goal of presenting our work in Washington, D.C. or at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.
Research
The Research Committee produces original written analysis on energy technology and markets, tracing how capital flows and research innovation translate into company performance and equity prices. Members work in small teams across a semester-long research cycle, gathering data and building a memo that argues a position, while gaining expertise in energy tech.
Membership
The Membership Committee builds and maintains an engaged WUEG general body! We create meaningful opportunities for students to learn about energy, connect with industry professionals and peers, and become more involved in the WUEG community.
